LHS Powder Puff

The last football down has been played, the final bout has been wrestled and the concluding field event has been thrown... and it's time for a break. Well maybe not! Just when we were looking forward to a night at home, the band played at the Powder Puff game.

This is the one and only band performance conducted in Titan Stadium that Zach was able to participate in -- it just so happened this was the first time the band performed at a game in full marching uniform!

Asian Festival

Audubon Zoo is the site for an annual Asian Festival.

The festivities were kicked off with a Lion Dance - the girls were
fascinated but Emma quickly took cover when the Lion leapt from the
stage and headed her way. In true big sister style, Mia played the role
of protector.

The Children's Pavilion offered all types of activities from making 'Floating Lotus' to "Chinese Fan" painting.

And of course, the playground equipment is always a huge hit!

Hippity, Hoppity... Easter's On It's Way

Like many families, Easter morning at our house starts off with lots of chocolate and jelly beans! Mia's always the first to find her basket and dive in...

Fortunately, the Easter Bunny leaves other goodies in the kids' baskets too -- bubbles and water wings are perfect for Emma...

While beef jerky is always a favorite of Zach's.

Tony makes his special Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes and sausage; and then we all head to church.

Our family tradition has begun opening the pool on Easter Sunday for our family and friends! After all, jumping in the pool is the perfect way to cool off after racing around the yard hunting for eggs...

Girls' Trip!

Evelyn suggested a 'Girls' Trip' and after trying to procure tickets to "Wicked" with no success, the next best thing was "Hairspray". Personally, I LOVE big hair -- afterall I did graduate high school in 1984 -- so while "Wicked" may be fitting as well, "Hairspray" was a perfect choice for me.

China Kids Playdate

My good friend, Maris, and I started a local China Kids Playdate a couple of months ago -- nothing formal, just a monthly gathering at the Mandeville City Hall playground.

Three families showed up at our first playdate and we had a chance to meet some folks we had 'heard' about over the past few years. The girls were delighted to meet their new friends... there was even another Mia AND Emma there too!

I just wish Mia would have had a little more fun!

Who Says Tax Time Isn't Fun & Games?

Every March, we have a LaBorde Tax Weekend & Slumber Party -- Aunt Jeanne, Stacey and her kiddos, Adam and Anna, make the trek to Mandeville from Baton Rouge. We all play while Tony does what he does best -- taxes! Our fun filled day ends with Aunt Jeanne's famous Gumbo -- just like Memee used to make -- and a slumber party complete with facials and manicures. The next morning, Tony treats us all to breakfast at Louie's!

This year's weekend coincided with Mia's school fair which was aWESome! The kids had a ball...
